Thomas at the park

Thomas has joined the ranks of park lovers. He and Marcus like to go to and play whenever possible. Here is nice shot of Thomas at the park with with a giant mosquito bite and a line of drool. Lovely.

Marcus and his new friend Joaquin, seem to have fared much better. Notice, no drool or mosquito bites on them.

How Quickly They Grow...

This coming Monday (9/15) Thomas is going for his 6th month appointment. He is now not just eating solids (squash, peas, carrots, etc..) but he is also sitting up. He is still the always smiling and happy go lucky baby we love. Last night he woke up at 4:00 a.m. (Mommy was very cranky in the morning), but he was so happy when he was up, all smiles and hugs. I kept asking him what was so amusing while I changed his diaper and all I got were shrieks of delight. It is hard to get upset when you have such a happy baby.

As for Marcus, he is adjusting to being a first grader. He is one of 14 boys in his class. No girls. Yikes! I feel sorry for the three female teachers. We recently went to the "open school night" to meet the teachers and we were able to see one of Marcus' self portraits. The self portrait had a thought bubble on top and it was his wish for the year. Marcus' wish "to learn how to read." I'm so proud of my big boy.

Big brother helps little brother

About a week ago, while Liz (our nanny) was changing Thomas' diaper, Marcus (uncharacteristically of him) asked if he could help. Mind you, the kid is always telling me that changing poopie diapers is "big people job" and he is only a kid. So, I was shocked and pleased at the same time when Liz sent me this picture at work.

He looks like he is performing CPR, but he is really just making sure the diaper does not come off. I can't wait to show him this picture when he is older.

Marcus get ready for school and gets a haircut

Next Wednesday starts the new school year for Marcus and in preparation of his first day of 1st grade he got himself a haircut. He'd actually asked for a mawhawk which he'd had once, but we both decided that a super neat haircut would be more appropriate to start the school year. Doen't he look great?

Saturday in Bethesda

This past saturday, the boys and I took a short trip to visit Gradma GG and also to reunite with our lovely relatives from London. Auntie Marion and Uncle Peter came to visit and the whole clan gathered for a really nice evening.

On the way home on Sunday, we stopped at a rest stop in NJ and guess who we ran into? Marion and Peter!! It was the funniest thing. We even park our car next to theirs. Marion and Peter were on their way to visit their son and grandson in Rhode Island.

We really had a lovely time and we particularly love this picture of Grandma GG with all of her boys.

About a month ago, I had my family over for a bbq. This picture of the boys (Noah, Nicholas and Marcus) pretty much sums up the day.

They had such a great time. It was hard to get them out of the kiddy pool.

Note to self: Must get my own version of "kiddy pool" so I can re-live fantasy of being 5 again.

Well, I've done it! I've started a blog. I must say I was inspired by Cameron, Jessica and Krysta. I love all the pictures and I particularly like the idea of being able to catch everyone up on what we've been doing.

Thomas is now a five month old bundle of joy. He is the sweetest little baby and I'm not just saying that. Compared to the surly nature of his brother, and this kid is practically a prince. He wakes up smiling, he goes to sleep smiling. We have started "solids" in the form of rice cereal. He does not seem to like it much, but I'm thinking he'll get used to it.

Well, I think I better get back to work. If my boss catches me blogging, this might be all I'm doing for a while -
